Boarding

There’s no need to rush

Before boarding, relax in style. Heathrow Terminal 5 has a single, spacious departure lounge for all passengers, so everyone can enjoy the huge choice of dining and shopping options, as well as the stunning views through the vast, floor to ceiling, glass wall.

At Heathrow Terminal 5 you’re never far from your boarding gate, so if you’re enjoying the numerous diversions and comforts of the departure lounge after check-in, you can keep on enjoying them almost until it’s time for boarding.

Boarding procedure

Terminal 5 has minimal announcements. Clear, easy-to-read information screens let you know where you need to go and when (with special assistance for visually impaired passengers).

Boarding is by seat row. Passengers travelling in the premium cabins and Gold and Silver Executive Club members board at their leisure.

Track transit system

Some flights leave from Terminal 5 Satellite B. The track transit system connects Terminal 5’s main building to Satellite B. This is a fast, comfortable, driverless underground railway. It runs every 90 seconds on an ultra-smooth guided track with rubber wheels.

Journey time is around 45 seconds. The track transit system carries over 6,500 passengers an hour.

Customer Service desks

In Terminal 5 you’re never far from a Customer Service desk, manned by British Airways hosts who are there to help.
